Glaucoma may not be the disease you think it is, growing evidence supports IOP, CSF pressure differential.

We've all been taught that glaucoma is a multi-factorial disease in which intraocular pressure plays a significant role. We've also learned and observed that some patients can have elevated IOP and never develop glaucoma, and some people have consistently low IOP and continue to show progression of the disease. With that being said, it is clear that there are many unknowns in regards to the etiology and pathophysiology of glaucoma. This article suggests that we may have been ignoring the significance of the cerebrospinal fluid pressure in this disease. What do you think of this potential mechanism?! Very interesting!
