I'm sure you have all been watching the news unfold regarding the announcement of Nova Southeastern University's agreement with Nation Vision.
National Vision had planned to make a significant financial donation to NSU, and in return, NSU had planned to change the name of the optometry program to National Vision Institute.
After much protest from current students, alumni of the college, optometry colleagues throughout the country, the American Optometric Association, and other optometry groups, the agreement between NSU and National Vision ended abruptly.
"An "unprecedented" agreement to grant corporate naming rights to Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry (NSUCO) quickly fell through after a profession-wide call for academic autonomy sinks the deal. The AOA Board of Trustees called the school's deal with National Vision, Inc. "inappropriate" and mobilized to oppose it."
