Dr. Amanda K. Dexter received her optometric training at Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California, where she was Class of 2010 Valedictorian. She also completed a residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease at the Veteran's Affairs Hospital in San Diego, California. Dr. Dexter is the Manager and Program Coordinator for OptoPrep, the premiere online study resource for the NBEO Part I & II.

Do you ever get frustrated when a friend or family member doesn't know exactly what you do? Does it bother you that the majority of people think that optometrists only prescribe glasses and contacts lenses, not knowing that we can diagnose and manage a wide array of ocular diseases? Are your patients surprised when you tell them we can see the effects of systemic diseases such as diabetes through an eye exam? 
An optometry student at University of Waterloo created a website with illustrations to promote public awareness of the services an optometrist can provide. Share this link with your friends and family and help change the perception that the general public has on our profession!
