‘Tis the season for all things residency! By this time, you have likely submitted all of your applications to optometry residency programs using the ORMatch Application Service. Now, the next couple of months are going to go by quickly with traveling for interviews, ranking your programs, and waiting for the Match results!

We want to make sure that you don’t miss any important dates and deadlines, so here you go: 

January 24, 2020

By this date, instructions for submitting Rank Order Lists and obtaining Match results will be available to applicants and program coordinators who have registered to participate in ORMatch.

January 31, 2020

This is the application cutoff date for ORMatch to obtain verified NBEO score information to be transmitted to the residency programs. Applications submitted after this date will not have verified NBEO score information sent to the program by ORMatch. Official score information for any application submitted after this date will need to be provided directly to the program by the applicant.

February 18, 2020

Match participants (both applicants and programs) may begin to submit their Rank Order Lists for the Match on this date.

March 6, 2020

Rank Order List Deadline: This is the final date for submission of Rank Order Lists by applicants and programs. No Rank Order Lists, applications, or registrations for the Match will be accepted after this date.

March 16, 2020

Results of ORMatch are released to applicants and program coordinators. Any action to fill positions remaining unfilled after the Match can be taken after 12 p.m. Eastern Time on this date. 

March 16, 2020  – April 15, 2020

Program coordinators will send letters of confirmation of the ORMatch results to their matched applicants within 10 working days of the release of the ORMatch results. Applicants are then required to sign and return the letters of confirmation within 30 days of the release of the ORMatch results.
